Learn KiCad at M5

All of us have made several breadboard circuits, and we love to see the results. Debugging them and finally having a circuit that works is great, right? How about turning those clunky breadboards into permanent circuits so you can show off to the world what you have made at any time?

That’s where KiCad comes in! KiCad is a software that helps you make Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) - you make the schematic and the layout of your board. Some important terms to consider:

  • Symbol Library

  • Footprint Library

  • PCB Editor

  • Schematic Editor

  • Routing

  • Vias

  • Measuring tool

  • Front Copper, Back Copper, Silkscreen etc.

  • PCB 3D viewer

Don’t know what these mean? NO worries! I host KiCad workshops every Friday at 4 pm in M5! We will walkthrough the process of making a PCB, feel free to bring your own circuits that you want to make permanent. After the PCBs are ordered, we will solder them together.
