Stopwatches at Saturday Makerday!
This Saturday, despite the buzz around HackHer, students still came to M5 to learn about digital logic, and build their own stopwatch timers! This design uses a 555 timer integrated circuit in astable mode to generate a square wave at around 1 Hz, which is then fed into a dual decade counter IC, and is finally displayed on two seven-segment displays, each driven by an IC that converts from BCD to 7 segment.
Students from all years stopped by at M5 to design this circuit for themselves, and learn the theory behind the counter system. Some even got their own boards to work! and take it home to showcase in their dorms!

Wish you were here? Sign up next week! We will be doing another workshop, with something you can take home.
